Jay D. Harmer, the fifth generation of Harmers to serve the Shinnston area, is a 1976 graduate of Shinnston High School, and received his Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fairmont State College. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1986. In addition to his work with the funeral home, Jay is a member of the Shinnston Volunteer Fire Department, where he has held the office of Assistant Chief. Jay is also the president of Shinnston Park Board. He is Treasurer of the Lowe Public Library Board of Directors. He is married to Pamela Heldreth Harmer, and the couple have three children, Miranda, Jeremy, and Jacob; and two grandchildren, Kohen, Prea, Cooper, and Jackson.

Jacob A. Harmer, the Sixth generation of Harmers to serve the Shinnston area, graduated from the Lincoln High School, and received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Psychology, Athletic Coaching, and Physical Education from West Virginia University. He graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 2017. Jacob has been married since June 2017 to Chelsy N. Nazelrodt and has two sons Cooper and Jackson.
